MICHAEL WARD - BUSINESS OWNER / HEAD INSTRUCTOR

Michael Ward is the founder and owner of the FITBJJ academy gym in Knoxville (Maryville / Alcoa). With over 20 years of experience in the martial arts industry and an extensive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing and Muay Thai background, Michael has decided to move himself and his family from Sydney, Australia to Maryville/Alcoa, TN to pursue his passion for fitness and martial arts as a successful businessman. You will find Michael at the academy 50 hours per week and six days a week as the passion to make students better is second to none.

Having a profound understanding of the applicability of Martial Arts which spans across Jiu-jitsu, Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai as a practice, Michael knew there was great potential to unravel by having all martial arts meet under the same umbrella. Thus, the FITBJJ academy gym was born in the Knoxville - Blount County area in 2022. Two years later we have over 200 students and each student has different goals. We have at least 20 students who have competed in:

  • USA Boxing Competitions
  • Muay Thai Competitions
  • Mixed Martial Arts Competitions (MMA)
  • Grappling Competitions
